Train delay

Cuttack: Train services between Naraj and Angul was disrupted for almost six hours after a wagon of a goods train derailed near Naraj-Marthapur railway station in the early hours of Thursday. Senior officials said that the goods train was transporting coal from Talcher to Bhubaneswar when one of its bogeys jumped off the tracks at 4 am.

Railway move

Sambalpur: D. K. Singh has taken over as the divisional railway manager, East Coast Railway, Sambalpur. Prior to this, he was chief commercial manager (freight marketing), Northern Railway in Delhi. 

Campus attack

Berhampur: A group of students attacked and injured a post graduate student of Berhampur University at Kabi Surya Baladev Science College Kavisuryanagar campus about 50 km from here on Thursday afternoon. Ranjan Bishoyi was attacked with sharp weapons when two groups of students engaged in a war of words over the upcoming students’ union election, police said.

ITM protest

Cuttack: The vice-chancellor of Information Technology and Management (ITM), P.C. Sarangi, has described the ongoing student agitation demanding restructuring of their course fee at Ravenshaw University as “illegal”. The students have been agitating for three days.

Accident

Balasore: Two motorcyclists were killed on Thursday following a road accident near Markona on NH-5 after being hit by another vehicle.The deceased have been identified as Ramesh Bindhani, 25, of Asuandia, and Anadi Barik, 30, of  Bhatapada.

Eye camp

Rourkela: A three-day free eye camp was launched in the city. On Thursday, the camp was held at Amar Bhawan near Daily Market. On Friday, it will be held at Civil Township and finally on Saturday at Vedvyas. The camp, organised by Marwadi Yuva Manch, was inaugurated by health minister Atanu Sabyasachi Nayak. 

Body found

Baripada: The body of a 40-year-old man who was feared  drowned  in river Budhabalanga  was found on Thursday. The victim, Makuru Mohanta of Bahadurpur village under Samakhunta block, was swept away while crossing the river on Wednesday.
