Child killed
Bhubaneswar: A five-year-old boy was found with his throat slit near a slum at Satyanagar under Kharavela Nagar police station limits on Thursday. The boy was admitted to Capital Hospital. He was shifted to Sishu Bhavan in Cuttack after his condition deteriorated. Police suspect Akash Behera, a Plus II student of science at a city-based college committed the crime in an inebriated state, though the exact reason behind the crime is yet to be ascertained. The police have launched a manhunt to nab the youth.
Bail denied
Bhubaneswar: The special chief judicial magistrate, CBI, on Thursday, rejected the interim bail plea of the BJD’s Mayurbhanj MP Ramchandra Hansdah. Hansdah is lodged in jail for his alleged links with Nava Diganta Capital Services Limited. He had filed the bail plea to attend the ongoing winter session of Parliament. The CBI had already filed the preliminary charge sheet against the Ponzi firm on February 18.
Poachers held
Kendrapara: Forest department officers arrested two poachers — Seikh Nazir, 35, and Mohammad Masum,38, and seized four dead birds from their possession near Gop traffic junction near NH-5(a) on the outskirts of the town.
