Ration cards

Bhubaneswar: Chief minister Naveen Patnaik will launch distribution of digitised ration cards under the National Food 
Security Act at a state-level function here on Friday. In the first phase, the cards will be distributed in 14 districts.   

Protest 

Balasore: A group of students of F.M. Autonomous College, who have been demanding the removal of the principal from his post, staged a demonstration on Thursday by closing the main gate. However, other groups opposed this demand.

Death

Balasore: A 42-year-old truck driver, who was undergoing treatment at the district headquarters hospital after he sustained serious injuries following an accident near Khantapara, died on Thursday. The deceased has been identified as Kebal Krishna, a native of Tamil Nadu.

Sentence 

Balasore: The special vigilance court of Balasore convicted a former auditor of Soro block in a graft case and sentenced him to two years in jail. He was also fined Rs 3,000, failing which, his term would be raised by another two months . The convict, Sridhar Sethi, was caught while accepting a bribe of Rs 2,000 from Nabakishor Mallick to pass a bill in 2006.

CBI raid 

Bhubaneswar: The CBI on Thursday raided the branch office of S. R. Green House Limited, a money-deposit collection company in Balaosre in connection with financial irregularities.
