Jumbo rescued Goons held Ammonia leak

Baripada: The wildlife division here on Thursday rescued a 15-year-old tusker, which had been trapped in a 25-feet deep well. The elephant had fallen into the abandoned well while it was on its way with a herd of nearly 18 elephants in the Similipal forest on Tuesday night. The officials were trying to feed it with fodder and water, but it refused to eat anything.

Goons held

Sambalpur: Police arrested five goons while they were planning to loot a house at Pardhiapali in the Ainthapali police station limits on Wednesday night. The accused are from Nellore in Andhra Pradesh. They were staying at Kabrasthanpara in Jharsuguda. The cops have also seized three cycle chains, a sharp weapon, Rs 67,200 in cash and three bikes from them.

 

Ammonia leak

Paradip: Panic gripped an area on the outskirts of Paradip Port Township on Thursday following a suspected leak of ammonia gas from an ice plant. Police said the leak was minor and there were no reported cases of people falling sick. The mishap occurred at Satyapriya Ice Plant. A fire safety officer said the valve of a pipe carrying the gas might have ruptured causing the mishap. The entire area has been sealed and people from the plant and nearby areas have been evacuated.
