Bhubaneswar: The inter-ministerial group, constituted by the state government, to formulate a long-term raw material linkage policy for local industries sought two months’ time on Wednesday.
The panel cited the recent Supreme Court judgment on mining in Karnataka. The committee, headed by finance minister Prasanna Acharya, was supposed to submit its report by April 30 to the government.
Bhubaneswar: The food, civil supplies and consumer welfare department has urged the Centre to release the rice quota for the state under the Annapurna Yojana. The court sentenced these accused one-year rigorous imprisonment (RI) and fine of Rs 1,000 each under Section 324 (grievously injuring), six months RI and fine of Rs 1,000 each under Section 354 (molestation) and six months RI and Rs 1,000 fine each under Section 427 (causing damage to amount Rs 50).
Balangir: Officials of the forest department on Wednesday seized the decomposed body of a tusker from the Chhelia forest near Keseipali village under Loisingha forest range.
The elephant was probably killed some 10 to15 days ago. Its tusks were missing. The department has begun an inquiry into the case.
Sambalpur: Secretary of the Rukmuni Lath Balaniketan at Chanchanpali in the Dhama Police Station area in the district Bipin Bihari Behera and two woman caretaker of the Balaniketan have been arrested for their alleged involvement in molestation of a former female worker in the shelter home.
