Minister visits hospital
Sambalpur: Minister of state for food and civil supplies Sanjaya Das Burma on Saturday visited the district headquarters hospital here and took the stock of the ongoing developmental projects. He also visited the wards in the hospital and distributed fruits among the patients. District collector Balwant Singh and chief district medical officer Jagatkrushna Samantray were present during the visit.
Two dead
Berhampur: Two labourers were killed due to suffocation inside a new septic tank at a private house at Bypass Square in Bhanjanagar of Ganjam district. The two deceased persons were identified as Chandra Sekhar Nahak, 24, of Baunsalundi and Sabita Nahak, 20, of Jilundi village. Neither the house owner nor the contractor was present during the incident. Fire Brigade personnel fished out the bodies from the tank, sources said.
Body found
Balasore: Soro police took possession of a body found in a drain near Panpana in Balasore district. The police registered a case of unnatural death and have started an investigation. The deceased has been identified as Basudev Patra, 40, of Kespura under Jaleswar police station limits. The body has been sent for autopsy.
Liquor arrest
Balasore: Nilgiri police has unearthed a spurious Indian-manufactured foreign liquor manufacturing unit here. They seized a huge quantity of illicit liquor and arrested two persons. Fake stickers, seals, empty bottles of branded companies, chemicals and machineries were seized.
