Girl goes missing

Bhubaneswar: A girl studying in Class X was allegedly abducted when she was going to school here on Thursday. The family members of the girl lodged a case with Chandrasekhar police. A search is on.

Lightning deaths

Baripada: Four persons were killed and two were injured by lightning strikes in Mayurbhanj district on Friday. Three |of the deceased persons belonged to Tikarpada and Tentulidiga villages in Baripada Sadar tehsil. The injured have been admitted to the Mayurbhanj district headquarters hospital.

Kidnap arrest

Bhubaneswar: Police on Friday arrested a youth, Manas Behera, accused of kidnapping a woman from Raj Mahal Square here. The woman was rescued six days after the abduction. She also alleged that Behera had molested her.

Dengue

Cuttack: A dengue case has been reported from Ranihaat in Cuttack on Thursday. The blood samples of Kanhu Charan Reddy have been found to be dengue positive. He was admitted to the dengue ward at the SCB Medical College and Hospital.

Class-X results

Cuttack: A total of 5,263 out of 11,547 students have cleared the Class X supplementary examination of the Board of Secondary Education. The results were announced on Friday.

Kangaroo court

Angul: Bantala police on Friday lodged a case against 52 persons, including Ragudiapada village head and secretary, on the charges of holding a kangaroo court and forcing ward member Mallika Sahu’s husband Dushmanta Sahu to beat a gong as punishment.

Woman dead

Puri: One woman was killed and four houses gutted when a cooking gas cylinder exploded at Budhakera village under Satyabadi block on Friday. The deceased was identified as Puja Sahoo. 

Tech admissions

Balasore: Admissions to many engineering colleges across the country, including IITs and NITs, have been put on hold by the Supreme Court on Friday over bonus marks in JEE. The apex court gave the order based on a petition filed by two students seeking revision of the list of students who cracked IIT after getting bonus marks in the JEE conducted by IIT Madras. Next hearing will be on July 10.
