Dengue patient

Berhampur: Dengue has resurfaced in Ganjam district with Surya Behera of New Bus Stand in Berhampur town testing positive for the vector-borne disease on Thursday. Behera reportedly complained of fever and visited MKCG Medical College and Hospital here for treatment on June 21. Later, his blood samples were collected for dengue test. After the samples were found positive, Behera was admitted to the dengue ward in the hospital and is now undergoing treatment there.

Waterlogging

Keonjhar: Waterlogging at the wards and entrance of the district headquarters hospital here after a brief spell of rain on Wednesday is causing patients and attendants to suffer. With the flood-like situation in the hospital due to knee-deep water in wards and OPDs, patients are finding it difficult to enter the hospital to get admitted. Besides, those who are already undergoing treatment at the hospital are having a harrowing experience.

Jumbo dead

Cuttack: A five-year-old elephant calf was found dead in the Baniabandha reserve forest under Khuntuni range of the district here on Thursday. According to sources, the villagers spotted the carcass in the Orba field of the forest range and informed the forest officials, who rushed to the spot, recovered the carcass and started an investigation. The officials said the calf's health had not been good since the past few days and said it was a natural death.

Python

Bhubaneswar: A 15-ft long python got trapped in a net laid by a fisherman in a distributary of the Kushabhadra river, at Netapur here under Gop block in Puri district. On being informed, forest officials rushed to the spot and tried to rescue the reptile unhurt. Reports said a local fisherman spread the net on Wedne-sday night in the river. When he went to pick it in the morning, he found the snake in the net. After catching the reptile with the help of some fellow fishermen, he informed forest officials.
