Passport kendras

Bhubaneswar: A letter from ministry of external affairs said on Sunday that the Union government had announced opening of three more Post Office Passport Seva Kendras  in the state. The new passport seva kendras will come up in Balasore, Berhampur and Bhawanipatna in the second phase of this scheme. In March this year, chief minister Naveen Patnaik had also taken up the issue with the external affair minister during his meeting in New Delhi.   

Protest 

Puri: Passengers and devotees who came for darshan of Lord Alarnath had a tough time on Sunday after bus services between Puri-Satpada were disrupted for more than two hours. According to reports, Satpada-Puri Bus Owners Association had detained 10 buses at Brahmagiri market to protest an attack on a bus owner and driver by an auto rickshaw driver on Sunday morning. Demanding immediate arrest of the auto-rickshaw driver, the local bus operators had stopped the services and detained a few buses.

Four injured

Kendrapara: Four women were injured in an attack by goons when they were vandalising a liquor shop at Olaver in Kendrapara on Sunday. The goons attacked the anti-liquor group comprising of more than hundred women. It was alleged that the goons threw chilli powder on the women and hit them with sticks.

Woman killed

Koraput: Dasari Kaleka hacked his wife Utme Kaleka to death when she was sleeping. Police seized the body and arrested the accused husband. The incident was reported from Adinagar village in Champi panchayat under Lakhmipur block in Koraput on Saturday night. The daughter of the couple, who was sleeping with her mother, found her lying in a pool of blood and her father was stood there with a hatchet.
