Maoists surrender
Koraput: Two Maoists carrying bounty on their heads surrendered before Odisha police to join the mainstream here on Friday. While one is identified as Divya, Odisha cadre Maoist, another is Chhattisgarh cadre Maoist Sanu. Each was carrying cash award of Rs 4 lakh on their head. They surrendered before southwestern range DIG S. Shyni.

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Tourism bagged the ‘Holiday IQ Best Heritage Destination Award for Konark’ in a ceremony held at Taj Mahal Hotel in New Delhi on Thursday. Bhubaneswar: Chief minister Naveen Patnaik on Friday felicitated Shibu Prusti, who won the Silver Lotus Award for his English movie Lord of The Universe. He has directed and produced the movie, which was based on the Nabakalebar festival of Lord Jagannath. The chief minister has handed over a certificate to him and praised him for his effort to make such a movie.
Babula Panda
Cuttack: Freedom fighter Laxmi Indira Panda's grandson Babula Panda, who was undergoing treatment at the SCB Medical College and Hospital here, was handed over to Koraput police and the twin cities police after being discharged from the hospital on Friday. The Koraput police will escort him to his home. Babula had been undergoing treatment in the trauma care ICU of the hospital since April 27.
Girl killed
Berhampur: Unrequited love took a ghastly turn when one Kanhu Charan Gouda strangulated a girl and later set her ablaze at Patrachudi village in Ganjam district on Thursday night. The accused Kanhu was in love with a girl who had rejected his advances. He used to pass lewd remarks at her and once the girl brought this to the notice of her brother, he had even warned Kanhu to keep away.
