Plus Two results

Bhubaneswar: Results of the annual Plus Two science examinations conducted by the Council of Higher Secondary Education will be announced on May 12. The results will be officially announced at council office. The students can know their results from two websites www.chseodisha.nic.in and www.odisharesult.nic.in from 11am, said school and mass education minister Debi Prasad Mishra here on Friday.  

Arson

Koraput: Opposing road construction work in the district, Maoists torched vehicles in Majhigumandi and Uparagumandi villages under Narayanpatna block late on Thursday night. According to local residents, as many as four construction vehicles -two JCB machines and two tractors - have been burnt. They said the vehicles belong to SPR Construction Company, which had won the tender for the roadwork in the region.

Murder charge

Berhampur: The mother of a two-year-old son killed her husband here with the help of her boyfriend, police said on Friday. The accused, identified as Jamuna Patra, 40, wife of Laxminarayan Patra of Mohana in the district, had an extramarital affair with Narayan Sahu, a businessman. The matter came to light after the Narayan's body was found in a rented home at Ankushpur under Berhampur Sadar police limits, police said.

Rights probe

Bhubaneswar:  The Odisha State Commission for Protection of Child Rights today started probe into the death of a four-year-old child at Bampadi of Ghasipura block in Keonjhar district. Secretary of the commission Nibedita Mishra and Rajlaxmi Dash, on Friday, visited Keonjhar for on-the-spot assessment of the situation and investigate into the alleged death of the malnourished girl, identified as Chumki.

Bookie held

Sundargarh: Police officials arrested a man from Rajgangpur of Sundargarh district on charges of betting and gambling on the Indian Premier League (IPL) cricket matches. Sources said the alleged bookie had been identified as Ashok Agarawal. In a raid on his house, police seized Rs 41,000 in cash apart from seven mobile phones and documents related to gambling.

Vigilance raid

Nuapada: Vigilance sleuths on Friday raided the houses of Dhanoram Sahu, panchayat executive officer of Uruamunda gram panchayat in the district, on charges of amassing disproportionate assets. A joint team of Nuapara, Bhawanipatna and Rayagada anti-corruption units raided Sahu’s residence at Nuapada and Mahora villages.

Girl death

Balangir: A 12-year-old girl died at Luchkibahal village in the district on Friday. Food poisoning allegedly claimed her life as she, along with 25 others, had taken ill after eating at a wedding on Wednesday.
