Animal exchange

Bhubaneswar: Authorities of the Nandankanan Zoological Park have decided to give two tigers to the Mysore zoo and bring a pair of giraffe from the zoo under the animal exchange programme. The Nandankanan zoo authorities have visited the Mysore zoo a couple of days ago to discuss the modalities of the programme. The lone female giraffe, Khushi, in the Nandankanan zoo had been brought under the programme from the Sanjay Gandhi Biological Park in Patna in 2012.

Bhubaneswar: The expelled Dhenkanal district Congress president and former legislator, Sudhir Samal, on Sunday joined the BJD. Samal, along with his 2,000 supporters, were inducted into the ruling party at a special event organised at Naveen Nivas, the residence of chief minister Naveen Patnaik. Earlier, the Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee had expelled Samal for indulging in anti-party activities.

Bhubaneswar: A college student was injured after being shot by five criminals allegedly over past political enmity near Kochilei ground under Nischintakoili block of Cuttack. The injured student, Tapan Behera, later lodged a police complaint, alleging the criminals of attacking him over issues related to the recently held panchayat polls. The police have started a manhunt to nab the criminals.
