Note it: Few takers for e-wallet

Demonetisation and consequent cash crunch have provided e-wallet service providers an opportunity to boost their business. From big business houses to small vendors, many have been forced to opt for the cashless digital wallet system in the hope of better business. Yet to make a start

The ubiquitous street-corner panipuri sellers have also tried the digital wallet system, but without much gain. Chandreswar Mandal, 56, who sells panipuri with his son Suman in front of Keshari Mall outside Rajdhani Haat, said the e-wallet system has not worked with him even for a single transaction. “I neither have a smartphone, nor do I know anything about such applications. My son was there when some people came and asked us to opt for their e-wallet service. We took it but no one has ever used it to make payments,” said Chandreswar, who is a native of Jabalpur in Madhya Pradesh and has been selling panipuri in Bhubaneswar for the past one decade.
