Bhubaneswar: The state crime branch might take over investigation into the parcel bomb incident that rocked Patnagarh in Balangir district on February 23.

Groom Soumya Sekhar Sahoo and his grandmother Jemamani had died when the gift exploded. Sahoo's wife Reema is still undergoing treatment at SCB Medical College and Hospital, Cuttack.

Sources said the crime branch would take over the case, as district police was yet to make any breakthrough in it. Though the police have tracked the parcel to Raipur in neighbouring Chhattisgrah, it is yet to arrest the accused.

Earlier the family members of the couple had met chief minister Naveen Patnaik on Tuesday to expedite the investigation.

Speaking to reporters for the first time, Reema urged the police to arrest the accused.

"My parents have met the chief minister. I appeal to him for justice and ensuring the safety of my family members safe," she said. Reema, however, did not suspect anyone and said her husband did not have enmity with anyone.

Though investigations have traced the parcel to one R.K. Sharma, cops suspected the name to be fictitious. The police have also sought help from cyber experts to check Sahoo's social networking activities, but they have failed to give any clue.
