Bhubaneswar, April 21: Pankaj Mahakud, the son of Independent legislator from Champua Sanatan Mahakud, has denied his marriage with Kavita Mahakud, police sources said today. Pankaj also told the police that he had never clicked any photograph with Kavita and that he had no daughter.
Kavita had earlier claimed that she was the wife of Pankaj and daughter-in-law of Sanatan.
The police, which had recorded the statement of Pankaj on April 8, today told newspersons that Pankaj had denied meeting any woman in Malkangiri as was claimed by Kavita. "I didn't have any affair with Kavita and I have never talked to her on the phone. She might have combined her photographs with my photographs to morph the image," Pankaj reportedly told the police.
Kavita had earlier lodged a complaint alleging harassment by Sanatan over her marriage with Pankaj. She had even produced some photographs of her and Pankaj to substantiate her claims.
The police said Pankaj had also denied of ever giving his debit and credit cards to Kavita. "I have neither visited Malkangiri nor stayed there even once. So, no question arises of my brother-in-law going there. All these allegations are false," Pankaj reportedly told the police in his statement.
Kavita had alleged that she was staying with Pankaj in Malkangiri and the son-in-law of the legislator had visited Malkangiri to take Pankaj back, after which he became incommunicado.
On the other hand, Kavita dared Pankaj to have a face-to-face interrogation.
"If he is telling the truth, then why is he avoiding me? I will move court seeking a DNA test of my daughter and the truth will come out," Kavita said today.
