I loved water and so, at age three, I began learning my first sport, swimming.

But it was at age six that I discovered my passion. Only this time, it wasn't just a game; it was all about strength and defence techniques. Taek-Won-Do, a form of martial arts, found its way into my heart very quickly. My love for this sport spurred me to master each technique and made me one of the youngest participants of the 13th Zonal and 5th Asian championship in Bangalore this month.

A blue striped belt and the guidance of my coach from the International Taekwondo Federation, Odisha, helped me grab a silver medal in the sparing section in the 10-13 years' segment and a bronze in group self-defence activity.

To achieve this feat, I had to strive hard for months together putting in at least two hours of practice a day. Tennis followed at seven, exposing to a whole new world.

But, my academics never took a back seat. My yearning for knowledge also was well aligned with all my physical activities.

A recognition by the governor of Odisha as a cub scout has doubled my joy. I am thankful to my parents, grandparents and my beautiful massi for all that I am today.
