Bhawanipatna: The state revenue and disaster management department on Friday launched the online land mutation facility at Junagarh tehsil of Kalahandi district.

Kalahandi additional district magistrate Chudamani Gadnaik inaugurated the service at the Junagarh tehsil office. Junagarh tehsildar-in-charge Parambrahma Joshi, aditional tehsildar Sudipta Kumar Nayak and district e-governance manager Sanjeev Choudhury were present on the occasion.

Sources said the process of e-mutation involved communication between the sub-registrars' office and the tehsil through a specially developed string of characters that could be sent to the server only from an authorised mobile number. The server generates a unique code, which has to be registered in the records of rights. The entry may be of mutation regarding mortgage of the land or addition of more names and ownership change. District informatics officer of the National Informatics Centre Kiran Chand Samantray said the e-service would simplify the procedural complexities involved in the land mutation to a great extent.

"Starting from application for land mutation till document preparation will be done digitally. This will save a lot of time and paper works," he said.

Samnatray further said that earlier land mutation was a time-consuming process and the applicants had to make rounds of the office to get the work done. "Earlier, it used to be a time-consuming process. But now, all information will be provided to the applicant through SMS in the registered mobile number. It will help in quick disposal of cases," he said.
