Cuttack: Ravenshaw University's inability to reach a decision on students' election even after over seven months of deferring it has come into focus with the Ravenshaw Bikash Abhijan (RBA) demanding steps to conduct it.

Ravenshaw Bikash Abhijan raked up the issue along with other demands in a memorandum to the vice-chancellor on Thursday. "It is a matter of great regret that students' union election for the year 2017-18 has not been held under fictitious grounds," the RBA said in its memorandum.

"We have urged the vice-chancellor to take necessary steps to conduct the election in due time adhering to the recommendations of Lyngdoh Committee," said RBA president Chittaranjan Mohanty.

Vice-chancellor Ishan Patro said that the issue had been referred to the university's executive council.
