Bhubaneswar, July 11: The counselling for medical stream under Odisha Joint Entrance Examination (OJEE) — 2012 for admission into MBBS and BDS in government and private medical colleges in the state will be held on July 17.
The process had been stalled for a while because the seat matrix had not been confirmed by the Medical Council of India.
For the first time, the OJEE authorities have decided to introduce web-based counselling for the medical stream instead of the centralised, manual system that was in place until now.
While the registration and choice-locking can be done from July 17, document verification at various nodal centres will be done from July 19 to July 22.
The nodal centres in Bhubaneswar have been set up at the College of Engineering and Technology, BJB Autonomous college, Central Institute of Plastics Engineering and Technology and IIIT-Bhubaneswar.
While the allotment for the first round will be done on July 26, the withdrawal process will continue from July 27 to 29. The final round of allotment will take place on August 1.
Apart from the three state-run colleges, which will have 150 seats each, admissions will be conducted for Hi-Tech Medical College and Hospital, Bhubaneswar, with 100 seats.
An additional 100 MBBS seats will be available in the state this year at Hi-Tech Medical College and Hospital, Rourkela, under the OJEE. This raises the number of medical seats under OJEE to 650.
Around 2,800 students have qualified for OJEE medical for admission this year. Gandhi Dental College in Bhubaneswar and SCB Dental College in Cuttack, with 50 seats each, also admit students through the OJEE. This year, 96,617 students had appeared for the joint entrance exam.
The Institute of Medical Science and Sum Hospital and the Kalinga Institute of Medical Science in the capital — with an intake capacity of 100 students — conduct their own entrance tests. There would also be 50 seats at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences, Bhubaneswar, from this year, which would be filled through its own entrance test.
“Details would be available on the OJEE website soon,” said OJEE committee secretary Priyabrata Sahoo.
