Bhubaneswar, Nov. 16: The Plus Two examinations, conducted by the Council of Higher Secondary Education, will be held between March 2 and 24.

A notification issued by the council reads that the Plus Two science examination will start on March 2, while the arts and commerce examinations will begin on March 3 and 4, respectively.

The science exam ends on March 20, while the commerce test will be over on March 21 and arts on March 23. The vocational examinations will end on March 24.

However, the council has decided to hold the practical examination a month before the theory papers to allow students enough time to prepare for the main examinations. The practical examinations for science will be held between January 27 and February 2.

Chairman of the council Basudev Chhatoi said that after students complained about problems they had to face while taking the practical examination last year as they had less time to prepare for the theory papers, the council this year decided to hold the practical tests first.

“Students will get a month’s time to prepare for the theory papers. The students will also get enough time to prepare for the JEE Mains examination after the council exams end,” said the council chairman. He also said the council aimed to publish the results by second week of May.

“We want smooth conduct of the examination and every possible steps will be taken in this regard,” said the chairman.

However, the authorities did not divulge what changes they would bring this time though they hinted at possible modification in the examination process. Each exam will start at 10am and end at 1pm. Botany and Zoology examinations will be of two-hour duration each.

Students have also expressed happiness over the month-long gap between practical and theory examinations, as it would help them in preparation.

“We had seen how last year students had faced problems when the theory examination started just after the practical examination. The council took a wise decision this time. But, the authorities should try to publish the results without any hiccups,” said Anwesha Senapati, a Plus Two science student.
