Cuttack: Police are on the hunt for a person who has been sexually harassing a 22-year-old woman by posting his intimate photographs with her on Facebook using a fake profile name.

The police said the woman works in mobile phone store in the city. She had lodged a complaint at Badambadi police station on Friday after she found her photographs on Facebook.

"A case has been registered under sections 294 (obscene act), 354-A (sexual harassment) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code, along with Section 66C (identity theft) and 67 (transmitting obscene materials in electronic form) of the Information Act," said inspector in charge of Badambadi police station Biranchi Narayan Pati.

As an immediate measure, the police have taken steps to block the profile from where the objectionable photographs were being posted and also delete the contents.

The police are on the lookout for the person who also features in the photographs with the complainant woman.

The person had initially befriended the woman on Facebook and they knew each other more through chatting. Later, they met in person several times around last September. The woman alleged that the man had taken several photographs of her when they became intimate.

When their relationship turned sour for some reason, the woman found her intimate photographs going viral on social media.

"We will soon nab the culprit," said an officer of Badambadi police.
