Balangir: Police on Friday recovered the body of a person who allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself over marital discord at his rented house.
Family members of Prahallad Mishra, the deceased, said he had committed suicide. The cops have registered a case of unnatural death.
Sources said Prahallad's wife had left him and had been staying with her parents for the past six months. After their separation, Prahallad also moved out from his parental home and stayed at a rented house in Rameswarnagar. He, however, used to visit his parents' house for his meals. The couple's three-year-old-daughter# stays with Prahallad's parents.
The matter came to light after repeated phone calls by the family members went unanswered. After three days, when his family members went to Prahallad's house they experienced a foul smell emanating from there. They immediately raised an alarm following which the police reached the spot and recovered the hanging body.
Baidhar Mishra, Prahallad's father, said: "He was having problems with his wife and they often quarrelled. It seems he has committed suicide."
Inspector in charge of Balangir town police station Gokulananda Sahu said: "We have sent the body for post-mortem."
