Bhubaneswar, Dec. 25: Anyone, who has watched Megha Sabarire Asiba Pheri, is bound to remember little Prabhu and his gripping performance.
Every action and emotion of the child actor in the film showcased his prowess and signalled the Odisha film industry of an upcoming superstar in the tinsel town.
Meet Ankit Anurag, who is all of 10. His illustrious bio-data lists down a number of awards he has won for his expertise in fields of acting and painting. Adding another jewel in his crown is the recently announced State Film Awards where Ankit has been acknowledged as the best child actor of 2010 for Megha Sabarire Asiba Pheri.
“I feel extremely delighted to have received the award. I attended the previous state awards event and saw some of the noted actors of Odisha film industry receiving the award. This year, I, too, will be on the stage. I am very excited,” smiled Ankit.
“In Mita Basichi Bhuta Sathire, the first complete 3D Odia film, there were four more characters of my age. All of us had a great time shooting at Ramoji Film city in Hyderabad. There are few special effects in the film and it was a new experience as we had to shoot with imaginary characters,” said Ankit.
Ankit showed his first histrionic skills at the age of four. His knack towards mimicking his family members and peers made him a popular guest at family events and parties. Words of praise about the actor’s talent soon reached the ears of director Sudhakar Basant, who was looking for a child actor for his film, Prema Adhei Akhyara.
Within a span of two years Ankit was flooded with offers from big banner films and serials. The actor has also been a part of serials such as Indrajaal, tele-film Ama Bhagabana and films such as Chatire Lekhichi Tori Naa and Balunga Toka.
Apart from acting, Ankit also enjoys painting and swimming. The Class V student is an awardee of state-level cartoon-cum- caption competition organised by the vigilance directorate of Odisha. Ankit is also a recipient of the 19th state-level child artiste award, organised by the Rashtriya Lalit Kala Academy. He has also received a number of awards for his performances in films.
