Life term for three

The court of additional district judge II here today convicted five persons, including gangster Sk Hyder, for kidnapping and murdering Keonjhar-based mines owner Rashmi Ranjan Mohapatra in 2007.

Bhubaneswar, Oct. 17: The court of additional district judge II here today convicted five persons, including gangster Sk Hyder, for kidnapping and murdering Keonjhar-based mines owner Rashmi Ranjan Mohapatra in 2007.

The court sentenced Hyder, along with Sarat Sahu and Bhabani Sankar Naik, to life imprisonment and two others, Ganapati Rai and Jajati Biswal, to 10 years in jail.

It acquitted six others accused in the case.

Mohapatra and his driver were kidnapped on May 27, 2007. Their charred bodies were recovered from Ranchi.
