Jajpur: A youth was arrested on Wednesday night for passing lewd remarks at a college-going woman at Dihakuransh village in Kuakhia police station area in the district on Thursday.

The accused has been identified as Balaram Rout, 26, of Dihakuransh village. He was arrested after the woman's father filed a complaint against the accused with local police on Wednesday. The accused was forwarded to a local court on Thursday and was later remanded in jail custody after his bail plea was rejected, they said. The woman's father alleged in the police complaint that Rout often used to pass lewd remarks at his daughter while she would cross Dihakuransh Village Chhak on her way to college.
