Bhubaneswar: The Shree Jagannath Temple Administration will aim to increase revenue through sale of land belonging to the temple.

The decision was taken during the budget meeting of the management committee on Wednesday where it passed the shrine's annual financial plan for the upcoming fiscal. The meeting was chaired by erstwhile Puri royal family scion Gajapati Dibyasingh Deb. The administration also hopes to get more government grants and interests from savings in various banks.

The management committee also discussed the standard operating procedure that is to be followed during the opening of the ratna bhandar.

Temple chief administrator P.K. Jena said: "We will discuss with everyone while deciding the procedure. We will also take the public into confidence on the issue."

The temple administration will allow an Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) team to enter the ratna bhandar to examine conditions of the roof, walls and ceilings. But it will not prepare an inventory of the jewellery stored inside.

Shree Jagannath Sena convenor Priyadarshan Patnaik said: "We welcome the decision on the repair, but there should not be any inventory."
