Balasore: The Kuldiha Wildlife Sanctuary will reopen for tourists from next month.

Tourists will not only be allowed to visit the sanctuary during the daytime, but also be allowed night stay in tented accommodations with complementary food for Rs 2,000 per person.

The 272.4sqkm sanctuary that is connected to the Similipal Wildlife Sanctuary in Mayurbhanj is home to leopards, deer and other threatened species such as porcupine, bison and pangolin.

The authorities have arranged nine tents with basic facilities for accommodation.

"There are provisions for boating. Swings and hammocks have also been set up. Trenches have been dug and solar fencing erected to protect tourists from animal attacks," said Balasore divisional forest officer-in-charge Ajit Satpathy.

"Tourists will get water from a borewell and hot water from solar heating panels. One can watch elephant herds near salt pits during the morning and evening. Other wild animals can also be spotted near the water tanks," he said.
