Killer gets life term

District sessions judge Asim Kumar Dalbehera on Wednesday sentenced one Prabhulal Banchhor of Dharanimal village to rigorous life imprisonment.

Nuapada: District sessions judge Asim Kumar Dalbehera on Wednesday sentenced one Prabhulal Banchhor of Dharanimal village to rigorous life imprisonment.

Prabhulal was accused of murdering his sister and brother-in-law in May 2013. After his arrest, Prabhulal was in judicial custody at Khariar jail. The court also ordered a fine of Rs 10,000 in addition to the sentence of life imprisonment.

A case of murder had been registered against Prabhulal at Boden police station.

Public prosecutor Nidarshini Rath, who represented the government in the court, said 17 witnesses were testified during the trial of the case.

"The court heard 17 witnesses during the trial, and the judge sentenced the accused to life imprisonment and a fine of Rs 10,000 failing which two years more imprisonment," Rath said.
