Bhubaneswar, Nov. 22: CEOs of 35 prominent information technology (IT) companies will take part in a National Association of Software and Services Companies (Nasscom) conclave to be held in the state capital and Gopalpur from November 26 to 28.
Information technology minister Pranab Prakash Das said the state government would extend all possible help to ensure that the event is a success. He added that Odisha would host the event for the first time. "The conclave will be held between November 26 and November 28 in Gopalpur and Bhubaneswar," Das said.
Nasscom is a trade association of Indian IT and business process outsourcing industry. "The Nasscom members are to visit Puri," Das said.
"The possibilities for development of IT in Odisha, adequate opportunity, business friendly environment, trained human resources and infrastructure being provided by the state government will be highlighted at the conclave to draw the attention of the companies. This will help in the development of the IT industry," the minister said.
Principal secretary (electronics and IT) P.K. Jena said the Nasscom executive council consists of 25 chief executives of top IT companies.
"The conclaves of this body are usually held in metro cities; this is the first time they have decided to hold it in Bhubaneswar," he said.
The official added that eminent scholars such as Devdutt Pattanaik would address the conclave, which will have sessions in Gopalpur and Bhubaneswar.
Jena said the event would boost the IT potential of the state and provide an opportunity for IT experts to interact with the stalwarts of the industry.
Nasscom is a no-profit-no-loss organisation funded by the information technology industry. Its objective is to build a growth led and sustainable technology and business services sector in the country.
Established in 1988, Nasscom's membership has grown over the years and currently stands at 1,400. These companies represent 95 per cent of industry revenues.
Notably, the Nasscom conclave will be followed by the Make in Odisha conclave in which the government will showcase the state's potential in industries including information technology.
Earlier, Nasscom had hosted a conference titled "Cloud for Business Growth" in Bhubaneswar on March 4. Cloud technology, the fastest emerging segment of the information technology industry, was discussed in great detail by various experts at the conference.
