Bhubaneswar, Dec. 15: Artists from the twin cities trying out various art forms will come together at Bindusagar on December 20 at the first-ever InstaMeet of the state. Young photographers, artists and people from various walks of life are excited about this unique get-together.
An InstaMeet is a meeting of people who are friends on the photo-sharing app, Instagram. People around the world host InstaMeets several times a year. Such meetings work as a platform for youngsters to interact and take photographs.
"They usually conduct photo-walks, which is just walking in the area and taking pictures in their individual styles and mostly on phones. Such photos are then shared online instantly," said Alisa Sahu, a 21-year-old amateur photographer, who lives in Cuttack. Alisa took the initiative of hosting this InstaMeet by creating a hashtag with an event.
"I used one of my pictures and used the hashtag #BBSRIGMEET. I mentioned the venue and time (Sunday, 8am) on the picture and posted it on my Instagram profile," said Alisa. With plenty of photographer and artist friends in her profile on the photo-sharing app, she received an instant response from many in and around the twin cities. While usually the meet includes photography, this InstaMeet in Bhubaneswar will also feature various interesting activities.
"People with interests in a diverse range of issues have been invited. The purpose of this meet is to explore talent and meet new people to exchange their experience and skills. Photographers, artists, designers, models and writers can also find in this a platform to come together and collaborate in their works," said Alisa.
The word has spread fast as her Instagram friends shared it on Facebook and other social networking platforms. The meeting of Instagrammers in Bhubaneswar will see artists such as Dibyush Jena, who is known for Graffiti, or Rahul Patnaik, who is a young volunteer and social activist. Photographers such as Ranvir Deb, Arnav Pati and any more will also attend the meet. While the artists and models can give the photographers subjects, there will also be an exchange of ideas and among the youngsters.
The initiative has also received a pat from Indiameets, a community of Instagrammers from all over the country who host InstaMeets in various cities. The Instagrammers of the twin cities are looking forward to the event.<>"We have been following each others' works on Instagram for some time now. But meeting artists and like-minded people in reality sounds really exciting," said Sonu Panda, an artist who loves drawing sketches.
