Champions Trophy, the nine-day long marquee event held at the Kalinga Stadium, not only witnessed some high-voltage sporting action, but also generated a massive interest in hockey all across the state. Serpentine queues near the jam-packed stadium marked the entry of international-level sports in a state, which has been known for producing hockey legends in recent years. Former Indian team captain Dilip Tirkey and Prabodh Tirkey are big names in the national game of India.
