Thirty-six matches will be played during the tournament with the opening match being played between Belgium and Canada on November 28. Hosts India will also start their campaign the same day when they take on South Africa. India will play its next two pool matches against Belgium and Canada on December 2 and 8 respectively.
The tourism department said a list of 412 hotels in Bhubaneswar, Cuttack and Puri has been prepared for accommodating players and visitors. Besides, 78 rooms of public sector firms, technical institutes and corporation guesthouses have also been identified. Additionally, around 8,600 beds have been made available for online booking. The state government is hoping to host between 20,000 and 25,000 foreign tourists in the city during the world cup.
This will be the third time India is organising the prestigious event. India had organised the event for the first time in 1982 in Bombay and New Delhi had played host in 2010.
Kalinga Sports Complex had earlier hosted Champions Trophy in 2014 and Men's Hockey World League Final in December last year.
