Bhubaneswar, June 2: Homemaker Arpita Mohanty always wanted a special scheme through which women who were not working could get some employment opportunities.
Thanks to the Modi Fest, now Arpita will be able to tell Prime Minister Narendra Modi about her desire.
The state BJP is organising a three-week mass outreach programme called the Modi Fest or Making of Developed India Festival that began at Exhibition Ground here today. At Jan Ki Baat, a special section at the festival, people can write letters to the Prime Minister and share their thoughts and grievances. More than 50 letters are being dropped at the kiosk every hour.
"I am very happy that I got a chance to share my ideas with the Prime Minister. I am a science graduate, but I was married off after completing college. I want to do something on my own. I wish the government could come up with a scheme where women like us can get some employment opportunities," said Arpita. "At the end of the festival, the letters will be sent to the Prime Minister. The initiative is on the lines of Mann Ki Baat event where citizens directly share their ideas with Narendra Modi," said Saphallya Misra, who is heading the Modi Fest organising team here.
A number of information kiosks have been set up to acquaint people with various central government schemes. People are also being told about the process of downloading mobile applications at the festival.
National Film Development Corporation of the information and broadcasting ministry is also screening short films at the festival highlighting the achievements of the Union government in the last three years. The festival will be launched in 30 district headquarters in four phases. In the first phase, the event is being organised in Cuttack, Dhenkanal, Bhadrak, Rajgangpur, Paralakhemundi, Boudh and Bhubaneswar.
The festival would be held at 10 district headquarters each in the second and third phases. In the last phase, the festival will be taken to Keonjhar, Nabarangpur and Rayagada districts.
