Bhubaneswar: The post-mortem report of Shreyas Keshawani, who allegedly died after being beaten up by his seniors at a hostel in Visakhapatnam, has revealed internal injuries. The 17-year-old Sambalpur native, who was studying Plus Two science at a private college in Visakhapatnam, had died in a city hospital on January 6.

Director of Capital Hospital Chittaranjan Das said that the post-mortem report revealed the deceased had contusion in heart (bruise of the heart muscle), pulmonary effusion and pulmonary embolism (blood clot inside lungs) before death.

"Such injuries were caused due to an external force. Such kind of injuries are otherwise caused when a person falls from a height and in that circumstances the victim is sure to have fracture which was not found with the deceased. The police have already collected the post-mortem report," he said.

Keshawani, a native of Garposh in Sambalpur district, was allegedly beaten up by his senior hostel inmates on December 26, following which his father brought him to Sambalpur on December 30 and hospitalised him. However, he was shifted to Ispat General Hospital in Rourkela on January 4 and a private hospital in Bhubaneswar on January 6 as his condition kept on deteriorating.

In another development, Visakhapatnam police are probing the matter in Bhubaneswar.
