Berhampur, May 16: A 28-year-old woman private security guard was murdered last night on Engineering School Road near Lingaraj Law College here. The accused is absconding.

The deceased, Rubita Biswal, was walking with her in-laws when the accused, Pappu Mallick, suddenly appeared and threw chilli powder on her face. Then he allegedly attacked her with a sharp weapon and fled from the spot. She suffered injuries on her neck and head. She was taken to MKCG hospital and later succumbed to her injuries. The police said Rubita used to work as a security guard at Gayatri College. Her husband, Subash, is a security guard at another private college. The family members of the accused and the deceased know each other.

“We are investigating and we are looking for the accused. We are also looking into various angles,” said, Dipak Mishra, inspector in charge of B.N. Pur police station.
