Bhubaneswar: The civic body will shortly resume its fortnightly grievance redressal camp in each of its 12 sub-zones. The camps will be held on the first and sixteenth day of every month.

The camps are aimed at bringing about better co-ordination and ensuring effective implementation of all the welfare schemes taken up by the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation. The officials will hear the grievances of the citizens at the camps and will take immediate steps to resolve the issues.

The municipal corporation has issued a public notice in this regard on Monday where it has mentioned that they have divided the city into 12 sub-zones to organise the camps smoothly. Each sub-zone will have a nodal officer who will be in charge of organising the camps. According to the notice issued by the civic body on Monday, the next Jan Sampark Divas will be organised on July 16.

The civic body, which has began organising such camps in December last year, put a temporary suspension on holding the camps from May 1 due to the heat-wave conditions. "We have decided to resume the camps from July 16 and it will be held regularly from then on," said a senior civic official.

He said that the camps would encourage citizens to redress their grievances through direct interaction with government officials in their localities. "The mechanism is designed to provide single-window service to the citizens. It will help all city residents and will save their time and energy while lodging a civic complaint," he said.

Each sub-zone will comprise six wards on an average. The camp will be headed by a nodal officer in the presence of a ward officer, a sanitary inspector, engineers, community organisers and other supporting staff. All types of grievances will be received and discussed for urgent and direct solution in the presence of citizens.

Mayor Ananta Narayan Jena said that they would be able to reach out to the roots of the covoc problems through such camps. "The venue for the camps will be notified shortly. We invite people to come to us and share their problems. We will do everything possible to resolve their problems," said Jena.
