Bhubaneswar, July 15: Odissi dancer Masako Ono enthralled connoisseurs of Indian classical dance at the auditorium of Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) in New Delhi on Friday. She presented a repertoire of authentic compositions of Odissi dance.
She staged vivid sequences depicting all aspects of the classical dance form of Orissa in front of viewers of varying nationalities present at the event.
Starting off with Ganga Taranga for mangalacharan wherein Masako evoked Lord Shiva, she went on to present a saveri pallavi with graceful expressions synchronised with rhythmic movement of the feet.
Her rendition of the Gita Govinda piece, pashyati dishi dishi, depicted the various aspects of love between Lord Krishna and Radha.
After showcasing this poetic abhinaya, the danseuse presented a choreography that defined the relation between dance and salvation, Mokshya.
This was her final recital and a mesmerising one with acrobatic postures depicting spiritual meditation in dance.
Masako, who also has training in various contemporary forms of dance, also performed her composition Day Dream followed by kundalini stavah that portrayed tantric rituals through dance.
