Bhubaneswar, Sept. 11: A team of 12 German students from Christian Albrechts University, Kiel and Hochschule Für Angewandte Wissenschaften, Hamburg, is in the state on a visit to the Central University of Odisha in Koraput under its youth exchange programme.

The German delegation is here to learn about the teaching methods adopted by the university and train them in various programmes.

The students visited the varsity departments on both the campuses. They also interacted with the students of journalism and mass communication, biodiversity and conservation of natural resources, English, teacher education, mathematics and sociology on the campuses at Landiguda and Sunabeda, where they exchanged their thoughts and experiences.

They also interacted with varsity officials through a conference.

Vice-chancellor Sachidananda Mohanty said: "We are expecting more exchange programmes with students from foreign universities."

The student exchanges are intended to increase the participants' understanding and tolerance of other cultures, as well as improving their language skills and broadening their social horizons.

"Such initiatives also help our students gain exposure and learn the process of teaching in other universities," Mohanty said.
