Friday test for three films

Bhubaneswar, Jan. 13: The trend of three Oriya films releasing during every festival that began last year seems to be continuing in 2011 too. Although the box-office story was not as delightful last time, film-makers are in high spirits this year. With Makar Sankranti falling on Friday, three Oriya films are ready to woo viewers and the crew of each is hopeful about the success of their respective films.

The Oriya films releasing on Friday are Most Wanted, Chatire Lekhichi Tori Naa and Loafer. The only Hindi film releasing is Yamla Pagla Deewana.

“Our film has a very interesting script and star cast. That should attract viewers of different generations,” says director Sanjay Nayak, who believes this is the season for movie releases.

“It’s the first month of the year and film lovers are getting a lot of options,” he added. Nayak’s film Chatire Lekhichi Tori Naa is a love story with separation and despair with a strong cast that includes the charming Barsha and the dynamic Sabyasachi. The film has been produced by Anam Charan Sahoo and Bhabani Rath while its foot-tapping music has been composed by Malay Mishra.

The stylish Anubhav is all set to show some stunning action playing a mafia in Most Wanted. The film, releasing under the banner of Oscar movies and produced by Prabhas Chandra Raut, is based on the story of a youngster who transforms from an innocent villager to a power fanatic once he gets into the world of crime. The Sushant Mani-directed film has Megha Ghosh playing the female lead.

“I’m excited about the response of the audience. I’m playing a radio host in the film and hope the character wins some hearts,” says Megha. Mumbai-based designer Sakshi Gupta has designed the costumes for Megha. Music director Gudli Rath has composed the songs.Rath has also composed the music for Loafer. Starring chocolate boy Babusahan and the pretty Archita, this film also has a different theme.

“The film is full of humour and is based on the dreams and lifestyle of today’s youth,” says director Ashok Pati. “We are very sure about the success of the film,” he adds. Actors .“Oriya films have their own audience. With not many blockbuster Hindi films around, these films could do well at the box office,” said Rabindra Sahoo, manager of a city based film hall.
