Cuttack, Oct. 2: The district administration has formed a special squad to curb harassment of spectators during the T20 match between India and South Africa at Barabati Stadium on Monday.

The administration, which had earlier auctioned five parking lots, has also fixed the rates for parking of vehicles to put a check on the charging of exorbitant parking fees.

Official sources said around 20 acres had been auctioned for setting up parking lots for spectators.

"For the first time, the parking space has been auctioned for around Rs 25,000 and the administration has fixed rates for two, three and four-wheelers according to the recommendations of a sub-committee," said tehsildar Abani Patnaik.

Patnaik said a person had to pay Rs 50 to park a car, Rs 20 to park motorcycles and Rs 10 for a bicycle. The money generated from the auction of the parking lot will go to the revenue department.

District administration officials said earlier, local youths were engaged to set up and manage the parking lots outside Barabati Stadium. Consequently, there was no regulation on the parking fees.

Apart from the designated five parking lots, the Odisha Cricket Association (OCA) has made special parking provisions for VVIPs, players and other match officials inside the stadium.

The parking lot for VVIPs will be under CCTV surveillance.

"We will assist the administration to ensure that private agencies do not charge exorbitant parking fees," said deputy commissioner of police Sanjeev Arora.

Police sources said the National Highways Authority of India would open the flyover at Madhupatna for the public on Saturday. This will also ensure free movement of players from Bhubaneswar to Barabati Stadium.

The flyover at Rasulgarh in Bhubaneswar was opened on Thursday.

An OCA official said around 825 of the 12,000tickets, including 750 for gallery Nos. 2, 4 and 7, remain unsold. These, along with 75 tickets for the corporate gallery, will be sold through three counters on Saturday.

Earlier, 7,100 tickets were sold online, while 13,050 tickets were sold to BCCI sponsors, affiliated units and members of the OCA on September 29 and 30.
