Sonepur, Nov. 22: Police have arrested Prabhasini Singh, a supervisor working with the integrated child development scheme in Birmaharajpur here, for securing the job by producing a forged matriculation certificate. She was sent to Birmaharajpur jail today after her bail plea was rejected.
Prabhasini Singh, who worked as an anganwadi worker since 1984, was promoted to the rank of supervisor in July after she produced a matriculation certificate, which showed that she had passed the examination in 2009. Singh belongs to Hilung village in Birmaharajpur sub-division of this district. On the basis of seniority, she was considered for the post of the supervisor for which the minimum qualification is matriculation.
She had allegedly submitted forged certificate and mark-sheet to avail the promotion. Some people had allegedly seen her appearing for the last matriculation supplementary examination from Maharaja High School in Birmaharajpur in last August. They had lodged a complaint with the district social welfare department.
On verification from the Odisha Secondary Education Board, the district administration found that she had failed in the examination in 2012. Acting on the direction by the district collector of Subarnapur, the district social welfare officer on Tuesday lodged an FIR with Birmaharajpur police station against Prabhasini Singh.
