Jajpur, Aug. 13: A truck owner was arrested for allegedly producing a forged order of Orissa High Court purportedly bearing signatures of two of its judges to secure release of his seized vehicle.

The trucker, Surendra Kumar Sahu of Brahmanipal, was arrested today following a complaint filed by Satyananda Sahu, deputy director of mines (DDM), Jajpur Road. Surendra’s brother and three others were also involved in the forgery. A case was registered and Surendra was produced before court today. Later, he was remanded in judicial custody after his bail application was rejected.

According to the FIR, Sukinda police seized a coal-laden truck near Mangalpur in March and handed it over to the DDM.

The DDM started a proceeding to confiscate the vehicle. Its owner was served a notice and Surendra appealed before the DDM for compounding his vehicle. The compound money was fixed at Rs 1,37,500 last month. On August 3, the vehicle owner came to the DDM’s office and showed him the forged court order. The order had directed the DDM to release the vehicle unconditionally.

“I apprised the advocate general about the papers. He told me that there was no such order issued by the high court. Then I filed a complaint with local police against them for preparing a fake order,” said Satyananda.

“Five persons, including three advocates, have prepared the fake order. We have nabbed one person while three have been absconding,” said Aswini Kumar Sahu, inspector in charge of Sukinda police station.
