A scene from a Serbian play at the silver jubilee of Indian Theatre Olympiad at Kala Vikash Kendra in Cuttack on Saturday.
Two plays on problems related to Serbia’s urban life and the rural-urban divide in a remote forest village in Odisha marked the opening of the theatre festival on Friday.
The festival is organised by Utkal Yuva Sanskrutik Sangh in September every year.
Dramatist Kartik Rath said language was not a barrier for the Serbian plays as ideas were conveyed through acting and
expressions.
Co-ordinator of Utkal Yuva Sanskrutik Sangh SK Kalimullaha said: “This year, the festival will have presentations by groups from Argentina, Iran, Bangladesh, Morocco, South Africa, Nepal, Mexico and Brazil.”
