Berhampur: Police on Wednesday arrested a 60-year-old man and two others in connection with the killing his 35-year-old son at Jaypur village in Aska on January 26.

The police had recovered the body of the deceased, identified as Babula Patra, chopped into 10 pieces, from a septic tank at his Jaypur house.

"He used to beat me and my wife in inebriated state for the money that I got after my retirement. I took my younger son Santosh's help to kill Babula," Banamali Patra, the father, admitted before the police. Banamali had worked as a peon in a local high school and received Rs 10 lakh towards his retirement benefits.

Babula worked as a labourer in Surat and returned home 10 days before his murder.

Aska sub-divisional police officer Subash Chandra Panda said Babula was killed by his younger brother Santosh, accompanied by Pratap Patra and Tara Prasad Das, in presence of Banamali.

"The blueprint to kill Babula was prepared on the night on January 20. Babula was forced to drink liquor on January 21 morning. The killers then tied his hands and legs and Santosh killed him by pressing a pillow on his face," said Aska police station inspector-in-charge Santosh Kumar Jena.
