Death papers must

Commissioner of the health and family welfare department Pramod Meherda today said no body could be carried home from a hospital without a death certificate.

Bhubaneswar, Jan. 12: Commissioner of the health and family welfare department Pramod Meherda today said no body could be carried home from a hospital without a death certificate.

He said if a patient died during treatment at a hospital, the staff members would have to inform the family about the arrangements to carry the body free of cost.

Meherda asked the department officials to create a WhatsApp group to share information on such cases. In case the family decides to take the body back on their own, they would have to sign an undertaking.

Girl set on fire

Two persons today set a minor girl on fire after she had resisted an alleged gang-rape attempt at Madhupur village in Kalahandi district.

The victim is fighting for life at VSS Medical College and Hospital in Burla.

Police said the accused, Bulu Das, 19 and another minor, had been arrested.

Kalahandi collector Brundha D. said the district administration would bear all expenses of her treatment.
