Officials of a private coaching centre, which conducts coaching classes for IIT aspirants, said the number of girl students who had cracked the test was fewer than boys. Around 45,000 students from the state appeared for the written examination conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE).
"Only the candidates who qualified JEE Main will be allowed to appear for JEE Advanced and there were no weightage for Class XII marks in calculating the ranks in JEE (Main) this year," said chairman of the Odisha Joint Entrance Examination (OJEE) Tushar Kant Nath.
