Bhubaneswar, June 8: Guru Dakshina, the dance festival which gives physically-challenged artistes the opportunity to share the stage with others, attracted art lovers in the city for its fascinating performances by young and veteran dancers.

Organised by Kalashrama, a dance institute in the city, the three-day festival concluded at Rabindra Mandap on Friday evening.

In the inaugural evening on Wednesday, an enchanting solo by prominent dancer Kavita Dwivedi left viewers mesmerised. Her repertoire included elaborate compositions invoking the female divinity followed by a choreography insisting on universal brotherhood that was based on vedic verses.

Disabled Odissi dancers Mithilesh Pattnayak and Shaktisworupa gave an immaculate performance. The final item of the evening was by Cuttack-based noted Odissi dancer Meera Das’ troupe Gunjan Dance Academy.

Thursday evening, too, left connoisseurs awestruck with striking renditions. Odissi duet by Pabitra Pradhan and Sridutta Bhol of Odisha Dance Academy was captivating. A Sattriya performance by Nrutyabhumi from Guwahati was a delightful treat for the eyes. The highlight of the evening however was sitar maestro Bhimsen Maharana’s performance. The last day saw an Odia comedy play Gabridon by theatre troupe Barnali from the city.
