Bhubaneswar, May 23: Admissions into the bachelor’s in architecture (B.Arch) at the College of Engineering and Technology is going to be a smoother ride for students this year.
The admissions will be held through the general OJEE counselling scheduled to start in June.
Admission into the 40 seats of the architecture programme had been stalled for the past two years following disputes regarding the admission procedure and a number of court cases.
“Since there has been no complaint against the B. Arch admissions this year, admissions can be conducted normally. We will also try to conduct admissions for the seats that were left vacant in the past two years,” said a senior official of the technical education department.
The results of OJEE are likely to be announced in the first week of June and counselling will be conducted shortly after.
An OJEE official said there were more than 10,000 aspirants for the B. Arch programme this year.
Admission into B.Arch at CET had been stalled for the past two years following a disagreement with Piloo Mody College of Architecture regarding the entrance test. While Piloo Mody has been taking students after seeing their scores in the National Aptitude Test in Architecture , the BPUT wants to admit students who have taken the OJEE test as well.
Admissions to B. Arch were delayed in 2011 and not conducted in 2012 following a high court stay order. The matter is pending in the Supreme Court.
