Bhubaneswar: Crime branch is likely to move court seeking confiscation of properties of gangster Syed Usman Ali alias Tito who was injured in a police encounter in Jajpur on June 30. "Tito has invested huge money in transport and stevedoring business. We have traced properties worth Rs 60 crore of Tito and his aides. We are investigating the source of generating such immense property," said a police officer.

The police suspect that Tito and his associates made a fortune through tender fixing in Cuttack, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur and Jajpur.

"The gang was also involved in extortion from contractors and other traders. We also suspect his involvement in hawala trade," said another investigating officer.

In another development, the Kendrapara SDJM Court on Monday allowed crime branch to take Tito on another four-days' remand. The court's permission came after the investigating agency sought for another 10-days' remand of the gangster after Tito was produced before the court on Monday after completion of his five-day remand.

On Saturday, the investigating agency seized 17 tippers, one trailer and eight excavators during a raid on Tito's infrastructure company. The police have also sealed the filling station and raided a garment shop and a motorcycle showroom owned by Tito's brother in Kendrapara.

"We have also traced Tito's properties in Bengal, Andhra Pradesh and Goa.," said the officer.

Tito is involved in around 40 cases, such as murder and attempt to murder, in Jagatsinghpur, Jajpur, Cuttack and Kendrapara.
