Bhubaneswar, Aug. 12: A group of upcoming artists from various academic batches of B.K. College of Arts and Crafts will host a weeklong art exhibition from August 15 at the Odisha Modern Art Gallery here.
The theme of the art show will be ‘Independence in Art’ to commemorate the Independence Day. This will include paintings in various media as well as sculptures that will bring out reflections on patriotic values and the freedom struggle of the country.
“Most of the artists taking part in the upcoming exhibition are students of the third and fourth year of the fine art college. We will also be honouring freedom fighters on the occasion,” said said and senior artist Tarakant Parida.
There will also be a simultaneous display of works by senior artists, he said. “We are a group of 25 artists from various academic years. About 50 works will be showcased at the exhibition,” said Prithviraj Samantaray, one of the art students.
Entries are being accepted for the annual Shilpi Divas festival of art hosted by the gallery wherein child artists are encouraged by displaying their artworks at an exhibition.
“We will be giving 100 medals to chosen artists and 10 memorial awards that are named after eminent artists who are dead. The festival will be hosted towards September and the last date for accepting the invitations is August 30,” said Parida.
